I am raising money to enable UK residents to enter San Patrignano - the world's most successful drug rehabilitation community based in Italy

I volunteer for a community in Italy called San Patrignano. I have worked for Jamie Oliver for over Fifteen years and in that time I have worked on various food based campaigns and also as a mentor to the graduates from Fifteen London. It is through that work that I found San Patrignano and 8 years ago I started volunteering for them. San Patrignano is the world's most successful drug rehabilitation community with an outstanding 72% success rate. The phenomenal success rate is based on the fact that the community believes that the solution to addiction is a social one rather then medical. A resident pays nothing to be at San Patrignano and there are 52 different skills that they can learn whilst they are there, this is a very important part of their journey. You can watch this video to find out more about San Patrignano.

I help UK residents to enter the community and to date I have helped 12 people to do this. Some of them are still in the community and some have successfully finished and are now back in the UK. I am working with a brilliant charity based in South London called CDARS. Like San Patrignano, the remarkable people who run CDARS also believe that the solution to addiction is a social one. Established in 1991 CDARS aims to improve the lives of vulnerable people affected by substance misuse and mild mental illness in South West London. They apply a holistic approach to help them improve their mental, physical, social and emotional wellbeing; their recovery and re-integration, whilst also supporting their family and carers.

Three years ago the team from CDARS and I helped a young man by the name of Michael to enter the community, he is now back in the UK working and drug free. Michael reached out to the team at CDARS for help. My vision is to raise £1,500 so that the team at CDARS can support more UK residents to enter San Patrignano. The money raised will go towards any associated costs from the team at CDARS for the processes involved to help UK residents go to the community. Some of these costs include: detoxing before entering the community, travel costs and further costs incurred by the team such as legal fees and general support and counselling. The other costs include flights to Italy which is around £200 and medical costs when they arrive which is 300 Euros.

San Patriganno offers an outstanding opportunity for anyone from around the world who is affected by substance abuse and with your help we can open the doors to the community for more UK residents.
