On Sunday 8th February, storm Ciara hit our beautiful little town.It has caused a fair bit of devastation and we prepared ourselves for a big clean up operation on Monday. What we found was unexpected and heartbreaking. The rush of water had surged through our neighbours basement and pushed the walls through. Both properties were left precarious and the fire service made us leave. We lost our home and our fantastic ethical business in the space of 10 minutes. The good news is that hopefully our building will be made safe tomorrow. The bad news is that we have no idea when we will be able to re-open our shop and it's not just a shop. The V&A Collective is a community, it has heart and kindness and a pinch of punk rock. We are an ethical vegan business and we are volunteer run and a not for profit organisation. We offer artists a space to sell their wares and give support and a friendly ear to those who need it. Obviously we work with a very tight budget and although prepared for the flood clean up, we were not prepared emotionally or financially for the current situation we find ourselves in. The community of Hebden Bridge are amazing and we have received so much love and sympathy, what we need now is funding to restore our beautiful shop.
