Exciting things coming up at the Feminist Library
We're still working very hard on finalising the plans for our move and the exact opening dates. In the meantime, we wanted to let you know what our fabulous events and curatorial teams have been up to, keeping the Library programme going, outside of the Library, while we get ready for the move.
In May, we have a number of stalls, exhibitions and pop up libraries, including one in Birmingham, at this excellent Birmingham University event on the 14th, and one at Peckham Salvage Yard on the 25th. We also have our Spanish book club on the 28th, 7pm at the (old) Library - possibly the last session ever at Westminster Bridge Road! The Feminist Library van will be stationed again at De La Warr Pavilion exhibition - on the 18th, 25th and 27th, the final days of the Still I Rise exhibition. And last but not least, we will also be contributing to creating the exhibition at the Heritage Open Weekend at the South London Gallery on the 31st.
We also have lots more events excitement coming up in June, with the inaugural meeting of our English language book club on the 5th! We'll then be contributing to WAVES, Women in Art, to Late at Tate Britain on the 7th. On the 8th, we are organising a workshop under the title 'Feminism is Real' at the Peckham Literature Festival. And one at the Anti-University - Viva la Migration - on the 16th June. Finally at the end of June, we will be speaking and having a stall/pop up exhibit at the Critical Management Studies conference at The Open University, 27-29th June. The month finishing with another weekend at the Tate Modern (details tbc soon). Phew, that's all (for now!)!
All the while, going back to the big move:,we have been very busy packing and cataloguing books - by now, our amazing volunteers have catalogued almost all of the books in the backlog of some 4,000 donations! We have also managed to secure a few exhibition equipment donations from the generous friends at Wellcome - which are now waiting for us at the new space!
We know that many of you have been awaiting the news of the opening of the new space - we will be letting everyone know as soon as we can (hopefully, very soon!), promise! Thank you again for all your support, and your patience!
