Help the Feminist Library raise £65,000 to Build its New Home and Safeguard its Precious Herstories & Community Space for Years to Come

by Feminist Library in London, England, United Kingdom

We did it - Thank you!

WE DID IT!!!!!! We have raised enough money to cover all the basics of our move and then some! We'll be able to build an exhibition space, as well as install a sound system with the money we've crowdfunded! Thank you so much for all your support!!! You have helped us make this vision a reality!

We are incredibly excited to be able to say that we have not only reached our target, but raised some 15% more than that by the close of our campaign! But we couldn’t have done it without you! Every single donation, comment and share made a massive difference! Our journey on Crowdfunder has been exciting for many reasons, but seeing all the support of everyone who’s backed our campaign in whatever small way was what kept us going! You are all our Sheros!

Hope you can join us for celebrations at the new space - Sojourner Truth Community Centre in Peckham once we have opened there. If you are not on our mailing list yet but would like to hear of all the exciting things that we’ll have going on there, please sign up today.

In the meantime, we will have plenty of work to go around! We have approx. 4,000 books that need cataloguing and about 11,000 books and 1,500 periodical titles that will need boxing up for the move! Fancy joining our collections team to help make that happen? Email our volunteers coordinator, Katie:

If you are not into volunteering but would like to help the Library survive and thrive for years to come, you can sign up to be a Friend here. You can sign up from as little as £3/month and still make a real difference. As the Friends Scheme is the main source of regular income for the Library, covering most of our running costs.

And last but not least, if you have any friends who were meaning to donate to the Library crowdfunder but did not make it in time, please let them know that it is not too late - the Feminist Library still needs to raise some £14,000 to cover all the costs of our move. One off donations can be made via our website here or cheque payable to Feminist Library & Information Centre.

If you are interested in helping out even further, you can get involved in fundraising for the Feminist Library! Find out about other ways that you can support or get in touch if that sounds like something you’d like to do:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported us on this journey: our donors, friends who helped promote the campaign on social media and beyond, our fabulous feminist design team, journalists who’ve given us coverage, and all the amazing artists and authors who’ve donated their time and work to make our Crowdfunder a success: Eva Megias, Lucie Russell of Drawing People Together, family of Astra Blaug, Helen Atkinson of York Printmakers, Shannon Bono, Daiane Medeiros, Megan Jordan, Syeda Alishba Amin-ud Din, Ali Smith, Katherine Connelly and Sarah Waters.
