We are Visible Fictions and we create innovative, dynamic arts experiences for young people.

The Hidden is an interactive theatrical experience designed to encourage teenagers to research, question and think outside the box...

Your mission, if you chose to accept it, is to crack the code!
Someone has gone missing but have they left messages behind? Hidden in books, written on index cards, scribbled on the back of an old photograph; there is a mystery waiting to be solved.
Set in a Library, your task is to piece the story together using all the clues you can find, just don’t get caught!
Work as a team to rewrite the history books, just be careful which path you chose to go down . . .

This Autumn we are taking The Hidden on tour to libraries across Scotland. We want as many schools as possible to connect with the show and their local library. To do this we need your help.

It is our policy to keep ticket prices as low as possible but we know that schools face other costs when trying to access live art, such as transport to get there and the extra costs of taking part in a creative learning offer.

With this production we are going to seven libraries across the country and will connect with approximately 36 schools. With your help we can make sure all these young people have a fair chance to see world class art in their local library.

The funds you donate will directly pay for buses to bring schools to the show as well as funding a creative learning project to be delivered in school in advance of the show. Being able to offer free buses means we can reach young people in rural areas and areas of high social deprivation without adding on the extra cost of transport.

We piloted the project in Paisley in November 2017 and received excellent feedback:

“Visible Fictions have meticulously assembled an interactive site-specific experience - that cunningly (and usefully) encourages curiosity, disbelief and a questioning mindset.”
– Mary Brennan, The Herald

Audience members gave the show an average of 9/10 and said the following:

“It was an amazing experience.”
“I loved every minute of it. I enjoyed having to uncover the clues. It was well planned and thought out - I just want to know what happens next!”
“It was extremely interesting and entertaining and I loved it using the books and clues were amazing and the code was so much fun.”
“Lots of fun, throught-provoking, intriguing!”

Before we take this unique show on tour it will be in residence at Edinburgh Central Library as part of Edinburgh International Book Festival.
