Jim and Jess set up Flea Circus in September 2018 as an affordable selling platform for North East sellers and creatives.
The 200 square metre department store is now home to 35 independent businesses and is a vibrant and popular shopping destination. The sellers, or Fleas as they are known, have become a micro community and have worked hard together to support the shop and help it thrive.
After Covid hit, Jess and Jim made the emotional decision to close the shop doors to customers on March 23rd. The continued lockdown has hit Flea Circus hard with overheads still to meet. Footfall is zero. And revenue is at 25% of what it was this time last year.
Bills still need to be paid and even with online sales and live streaming events the Fleas are struggling to make ends meet.
Flea Circus did not qualify for the Small Business Grant Fund. Despite the loyalty of our incredible customers turnover is down massively, and uncertain times still lie ahead.
So, Team Flea is asking you if you can help us survive so we can be here to see you and serve you again on the other side.
Some of our most talented Fleas have put together some one off products to help us raise the funds to pull the shop through this challenging time.
We have some amazing rewards for you: the shopping bags (above), cards, prints, vouchers and Flea Circus goody bags, all up for grabs.
The 9 different prints are shown here:

So please make a pledge with us today and claim your reward. We’d all be so thankful if you could help us hit our £10,000 target. Your support will help to keep Flea Circus open in a safe and manageable way. It will help to buffer the impact of Covid for all the Fleas and secure the future of Flea Circus.
We miss you all and we can’t wait to open our doors to you again. Soon.
love Jess, Jim and all the Fleas.
