I formed the The Lowfells in January 2016 in Cardiff with fellow musicians Chris James (keyboards) and Scott Guy (guitar). We shared the same musical influences and quickly became close friends which reignited my love of song writing.
As a 3 piece, we started writing our own songs with the aim of recording demos that could be used to form a full band. On 29th January 2017, we finished recording our 3-piece acoustic version of our album 'Marks' and began playing the tracks live at open mic nights around Cardiff and Newport.
Tragically Chris passed away on Friday 3rd February 2017 shortly after performing our 4th gig. His family and friends were devastated to learn that he had pneumococcal meningitis. He was 35 years old.
Chris was a much-loved character and an exceptional musical talent. He was in his 2nd year studying music at Cardiff University and was fast becoming the go-to-man for session playing keyboards. He LOVED music and really filled our lives with his enthusiasm and passion. He was also a great musical mentor, writing partner and he absolutely loved The Lowfells.
Scott and I would therefore like to raise £900 to see our recording professionally mastered and pressed onto 400 CDs for the family and friends of Chris James. The album was the last recording Chris ever made and being able to provide the people who knew and loved him most with a finished CD would mean the World to all of us.
