Our project is to raise funds to preserve 2 Gloucester RC&W Bogies which is currently up for sale.
Originally manufactured in the 1950's designed for use on a large variety of wagons. Originally manufactured in steel today they are still being made in China although now being made in Aluminium. These Gloucester Bogies were highly demanded from various companies many years ago which has made them so popular they are still being manufactured today.
This is one of the later designed style of Gloucester Bogie with the bearings being of a different design.
These 2 Bogies have the Gloucester England stamped/embossed on the frames.
We would like to preserve these 2 Gloucester Bogies as most people today know of Gloucester Railway Carriage and Wagon Company Limited through their Patent Bogie design of which these are 2 of them.
The plans for both bogies would be to fully restore them and use them as an educational piece to help educate members of the public on Bogie designs and to educate members of the public on the original Company and those men who worked on the shop floor manufacturing parts for these Bogies
Breakdown of Costs:
Purchase of Gloucester Bogie - £1,000 + VAT (£200) = £1,200 each, total purchase costs for both bogies - £2,400
Transport costs to be confirmed and agreed.
Please give generously as this is the only chance WE will have to save this iconic wagon.
