I've always been interested in writing and also mental health. A number of years ago I wrote a short, hand illustrated book for my kids as a Christmas present. It wasn't intentional at the time but there were some good underlying messages about handling stress, asking for help and never giving up without it being too obvious - it's a fun story as opposed to being about life lessons. But there are some important messages that, if adapted at an early age, may help to halt the prominence of mental health challenges with our young people. I have 3 books done and will be looking to expand the series. They are based around animals that do certain jobs (The Windowpottamus for example, a hippo who cleans windows!) and I plan to make each new addition to the series have a specific underlying message.
