Help My Disabled Daughter Walk

Help My Disabled Daughter Walk

To get a walker for my special need daughter

We did it!

On 21st Feb 2017 we successfully raised £6,002 of £6,000 target with 49 supporters in 42 days

I will start from the beginning. It was January 2012 when my wife and I first found out that she was pregnant and we were expecting twins. It was a very exciting time for us as we were going to become first time parents and take the next step in our lives.

Everything was going good and we were expecting our children in September that year. Due to some complications (and negligence on the hospitals part) my wife went in to labour and our children were born early in June, at just 25 weeks and 6 days. Unfortunately, due to being born that early one of our twins suffered from a grade 4 brain bleed. At that time, we did not know what that meant or how to take that news. We were told that we would not know what that means for some time but was told she “may” have some weakness on the left side (as the bleed was on the right)

Taking each day as it comes and moving on 4 years and untold amount of hospital visits, our daughter Qirrat was diagnosed with quadriplegic cerebral palsy which basically effects all four limbs and due to this she cannot sit, walk, talk, eat and has profound sight and hearing impairment.

Not too long ago Qirrat’s physiotherapist told us about a walker that would be beneficial for Qirrat so we decided to give it a try. Qirrat cannot weightbear because her muscles are too weak but she's recently had treatment done for her legs which now allows her to tolerate standing with support or in this walker's case, take little steps and learn how to walk. Unfortunately, since it’s a new product on the market, it is quite expensive and due to financial restrictions at the moment, we cannot afford it ourselves. You can have a look at the video link below.

As you can see this walker gives full body and head support and allows her to walk. This is something she really enjoys and it allows her to feel independent and would be very beneficial for her so we are asking for help to raise funds to get this walker for her.
