Mr Radiator Ltd offer plumbing and heating solutions across the South Coast. We have kept a keen eye on new green technologies that will help us reduce our carbon footprint whilst maintaining the reliable service we offer our customers. With the launch of a range of 'green' hybrid vans we thought we had found a solution, but realistically, how green are they? And are they more of a false economy and a vanity project?
We aren't interested in virtue signalling to the masses, we want to make a genuine impact to the environment and do our bit to reduce pollution levels in the area. While a hybrid van may well be the answer for works involving heavy goods or longer distances, we don't believe its the best alternative vehicle for city driving. We think we've found the answer!
Mr Radiator Ltd would like to run a pilot program to trial out a hybrid electric bicycle service. We have found our vehicle of choice, The Tri-King Delivery eTrike and will be offering an inner city service where many smaller jobs can be carried out without the use of a diesel van. This would involve gas safety certificates, boiler servicing, cooker installation and plumbing repairs. Other than the electricity used to re-charge the small battery pack, this vehicle will create zero emissions!
We intend to raise funds to start this pilot in Portsmouth, one of the most densely populated cities in Europe and also, shamefully, one of the most polluted in the UK. Portsmouth has the geographic benefit of being almost entirely flat, making it ideal for a self propelled vehicle. Depending on the popularity of this crowd funder, we may also look to pilot other vehicles in the surrounding regions, mainly Gosport, Fareham, Havant and Waterlooville with Chichester, Bognor and Southampton next on the list.
Why help us? Well if you live locally then the answer is obvious. But if you don't live in Portsmouth, why fund a pilot here? We believe that our ambitions have the ability to revolutionise the service industry. Everybody is talking about going green, but nobody is making the effort, or taking the risk to actually carry out the actions. Mr Radiator will set the standard that others will then have no excuse but to follow. That means more companies switching to REAL zero emission vehicles, lower CO2 levels and cleaner air in all of our towns and cities. Royal Mail are currently trying out a similar scheme in London, but that's not enough. We believe this technology to be far more useable than simply delivering packages. Personally, we see no reason why it would not be a success. But we need your help! So, please help us achieve our goal.
