About my project...
I recently completed a degree in Drama & Theatre Practice at The University of Hull (2:1 BA Hons!), during the course, I got the bug for costume making. After 2 costume modules and plenty of sewing for public performances*, I decided to take this passion further and I successfully applied for one of 8 places at the Northern College of Costume.
I will be starting a 15-week intensive course, this July, where I will be studying and making period costumes ranging from the 17th to 20th centuries, creating Tudor tunics, Darcy dress and all manner of glorious garments suitable for theatre and film . I will be learning new techniques and styles, culminating in an exhibition and a professional placement.
There's no such thing as a free lucet (terrible fabric pun!) and I'm in need of financial support to help pay for my living costs and turn a hobby into a career. Therefore, I would be so thankful for any gracious donations you could make, which I fully intend to repay through hard work and, with a thread of luck, a job in theatre costume making!
*The above picture is a costume I made for the production of Alice at The University of Hull, 2013. The costume is for the caterpillar and is made out of three lampshades.
