Hi all,

I know these are difficult times for everyone, but I need your help. My son Alfie needs to get home from Australia, but has no money. I am a single mum and I work for a charity. I simply have no access to that kind of money. I hate to ask, but I need help to get Alfie home due to quarantines and corona pandemic.

Alfie left us at Christmas 2019, to go on a gap year, below is our last picture together as a family. He was supposed to be travelling and working in Australia and South East Asia before taking his place to study Bio-medicine at Nottingham Trent University.  He had organised a working visa for 12 months and after much job hunting had found work on a farm in Bundaberg, picking avocadoes, pineapples and sweet potatoes. However the work has dried up due to the corona pandemic leaving him stuck without a job. This means that he has been unable to save the money needed to fly home or continue his gap year experience,  which was his plan prior to the outbreak of the virus.

Due to the pandemic he needs to return home early. (Clearly he can't stay abroad without a job, money, family or support network.)

We're desperately fundraising for costs to bring Alfie home, anything you can spare, however small, is very GRATEFULLY appreciated. (If you can't donate, I totally I understand, please do share this with others instead.)

Flight costs = £890 Brisbane to Heathrow (Via Dubai, as it's the only safe place to stop over and there are no direct flights)

Bus from Bundaberg to Brisbane cost = £60

Travel by train from Heathrow to Bournemouth = £85.10

Total cost = £1,035.10

Possible above this: Contingency for any medical costs - it's possible that Alfie will need to pay £250 for medical costs to test that he's not infected with corona/Covid-19.

***Any additional funds raised beyond this will be donated to Hope for Food (our local foodbank) to support families in crisis at this time.***
