I have been actively involved in education for the past 10 years. I have worked in adult education, offender education as well as individuals who have a history of substance abuse, mental health and domestic abuse. Each of these individuals, despite their stories have tried really hard to get through college, to change their perspectives and make a better life for themselves. Regardless of what I have been told, I do believe people can change, but this takes time, nurture and effort.
Unfortunately after whistleblowing on racial inequality at work in 2019, I found myself out of employment. I didn't want to accept it at the time, but the experience really knocked my confidence and I struggled with my own mental health for a while. Although a disheartening experience, I believe I have more to offer to others in need.
I am really pleased to have been offered a place to study Psychology at University. This degree will support my vision in becoming an Educational Psychologist. My future plan is to share programs which support people in communities with crime prevention interventions and tackle mental health issues in a holistic way.
Along with this, I aim to bring greater awareness of the effects of drug and substance abuse for the younger generation. Let's face it, the problem is there hiding on many streets corners, we just don't talk about it enough.
I believe I can make a positive difference if given this opportunity to burgeon my vision to develop our communities to flourish.
You contribution can fund my studies so that I can continue my vision to enrich lives, enhance wellbeing and to rebuild the economy in a positive way.
