Our beautiful 8 year old daughter Maceia, or Amazing Maceia as she is more appropriately known, was diagnosed with a rare form of brain tumour in July 2018. Since her diagnosis, Maceia has undergone two gruelling years of treatment and chemotherapy.
However, time is running out. Maceia cancer is inoperable and her oncologist has said she needs specialist drugs which unfortunately are not currently available on the NHS. Maceia needs this treatment now.
We really need your help.
When Maceia was first diagnosed with cancer, she said she wanted to show people not be scared of cancer, but to fight it and lead a normal life. During her treatment ,Maceia continues to inspire countless others with her determination, optimism and cheerfulness. From throwing herself into judo, attending air cadets and dance classes, learning to sail and to ride a horse and donating her hair to other cancer patients; despite her illness, our amazing Maceia never gives up. She has also won a number of awards for her bravery.
In the first instance we are raising funds to purchase Everolimus, a targeted drug which gives Maceia the best chance to fight her cancer; this costs £6,000 per month. There will be further costs for other medical procedures and therapies that Maceia may benefit from. Everolimus will be used for as long as it is of benefit to Maceia‘s condition. A further £55,000 will be required for the second targeted drug, Dendritic Cell Vaccines.
If we are lucky enough to raise more money than we need to fund the drugs and any other medications and therapies that Maceia may benefit from.
