Bishy Road is more than shops, it’s the heart of the community.

Over the last few years the community of shops and businesses on the street has grown with more independent traders moving in. The street is improving all the time. Not only making it the focal point for the community but it helps to secure employment for people in the area. We also have had some great parties. We all remember that great day when the Tour de France Grand Depart kicked off a day of fun and celebration on our little street.

As we move towards winter the Bishy Road Traders Association have been dusting off the lights they place above the shops and wondered how the street could be made a little bit brighter this winter?

The plan is to put up the existing lights but in addition have small lit Christmas trees fastened to the wall above the shop fronts. The traders will pay for these individually themselves.

The big news is that with the help of the community we aim to have winter lights that go across the road where the bunting hung in the summer.

To do this investment in a wired infrastructure to cross the street will be required. This will be funded by the traders and sponsorship. The same wires will also carry the bunting in the summer months as well.

In order to have lights crossing the street we need a little bit of support from you. Please can you support these plans by sponsoring a bulb for £10?

The names of all those who kindly donate will be recognised by their name being listed on the soon to be launched new Bishy Road website. You would also receive a special “I helped light up Bishy Road” fridge magnet.  * * NEW * * In addition, all those who donate will receive a "I helped light up Bishy Road" badge that they can wear with pride while walking down Bishy Road!

Thank you for your very kind support.  Together we can enhance our community lights display for this winter and for many more winters to come.
