The Green Party has won the Newsome Ward in Huddersfield at every local election since 1996. That’s 17 election wins in a row. It has not always been easy. Labour have targeted Newsome on a number of occasions and our campaigns have been vigorous, imaginative and as you would expect there are lots of leaflets.
Having Greens on Kirklees Council has meant that 50,000 householders have had free insulation, we’ve produced a ground breaking policy on opposing fracking in our local plan that have national significance. All this plus local people getting good support with everyday problems and issues effecting them and their communities.
This year our long standing Councillor Julie Stewart-Turner is standing down after 17 years representing the Green Party in the Newsome Ward. Local campaigner Sue Lee-Richards is standing in May for the first time. We need £1000 to pay for leaflets and posters for a key campaign for us this year so any support you could give would be gratefully received.
Better still if you’re able to make a modest regular donation by standing order that would be appreciated.
