I am trying to raise money to buy an electric wheelchair and a short respite break.

After a long time of trying to do it ourselves I have come to the realisation that I am going to need to ask for help from you generous people who happen to read our story. I an a 47 year old man living in Dorset, England. About 2 years ago I started having strange feelings in my feet and hands. Shortly thereafter after many tests and hospital visits I was diagnosed with a condition called Small Fibre Sensory Neuropathy. Basically this means that my nerves send pain signals to my brain instead of touch, hot, cold etc. The condition is progressive unfortunately and is steadily spreading around my body and I have been unable to work. I have been using a manual wheelchair to get around but over the past few month the pain in my hands means I cannot use the chair and I am basically housebound. My wife works part time as a teaching assistant so that she is around to care for me. The health service will not provide me with a powered wheelchair as our home is not suitable to use it indoors, which is one of their criteria. I am therefore hoping to raise the money to be able to buy my own powerchair which cost around £2500 - £3000 money we would simply never be able to raise. If there is any 'change' left I'd like to put it towards a short break for my wife and children as they have suffered along we me and deserve a break away from the stress of daily life.

Got an idea like this?
