Many have been touched by Ana Maria (Bodinha) one way or another in the years she has been living in London. Either through her beautiful poems that express a deep search for love and connection, or through her unique and energetic character.
For those of you who may not know, this amazing and sensitive soul, mother, grandmother and friend has been suffering from chronic injuries in her knee in addition to lung damage, meaning that the constant risk of a fatal pulmonary embolism prohibits her from having any surgery.
She is currently taking blood thinning medication to try to alleviate this risk, however her biggest health threat is, ironically, her heart.
She has been diagnosed with CHF stage 4, (congenital heart failure) and needs an urgent Stem Cell transplant, to be able to live longer.
- Stage 4 or late-stage CHF:
At this stage, without this treatment, she would have less than a year to live.
With the help from her family and friends, this specialised treatment can extend the life of such an amazing, fun loving person.
We want to fight to have her with us as long as we can, so that her grandchildren & children and many friends who love her so much, don’t lose her too soon
This treatment normally costs up to five times more, but we have managed to get it cheaper with a family friend, abroad.
Due to the current Covid situation we, like many other people, have found our finances severely compromised. I myself have had to put my life and work in Brazil on hold and rush to the UK, only to realise when I arrived how serious her medical condition has become.
We are very worried about her health and hope this can be done as soon as possible.
