After some careful consideration, and much duress, we have decided to set this page up for Kimmie.
Many of our family and friends have been asking us if they can do anything to help with things, or get us anything. The truth of the matter is that at the moment, we don't exactly know what we need.
What we do know is that for her to continue to get better, and get rid of this illness, she is going to need to continue with her private medical treatment.
As some of you may know, Kimmie was sadly made redundant just prior to her diagnosis. Her company very generously paid for a years worth of medical insurance for her, however that runs out in December. The drugs that she needs to help her fight this sadly aren't covered under the NHS and her level of cover, for the care she is getting is sadly very expensive, around £500 per month. With one income, this is something we are potentially going to struggle with.
On top of that, in the short term, there are things that we need to pay for, physiotherapy, adapting bits of the house, equipment to help her get mobile again for the first couple of months.
My/our pride has meant that we haven't wanted to do this, but so many of you have asked and encouraged me, so here we are.
I have no idea what sort of budget to set. 1 years worth of cover together with associated costs, we calculated at about £7,500. I don't expect to get anywhere near that, but as Tesco say, every little helps.
Thank you again to everyone for your continued support, messages and encouragement. This has been one of the hardest 12 months of our lives, but also the most humbling to see the friends and family that have come together to help us.
