Just 8 days left to help Iona. Please donate if you can, no matter how little. Every £1 will make a difference.
I want to raise money to pay for riding lessons for a little autistic girl called Iona. Horses and riding are literally a lifeline for Iona who suffers from severe anxiety. She has communication problems as well as being extremely sensory defensive. During lockdown she became suicidal – at the age of 10. It is only through riding and her contact with horses that she is beginning to cope with life again. Being with horses and riding helps to lessen her anxiety. I have seen this for myself. She is a different child when on a horse or around them.
Unfortunately, Iona’s family find the financial strain of paying for lessons difficult; Iona’s dad has many health problems including a serious heart condition, so is unable to work. Iona’s mum is carer to him and to Iona. Iona also has a sister who has brittle asthma.
Iona currently has an hour’s lesson by herself which costs £24 and an additional half an hour when her parents can afford it which is £12.50. I would like to raise enough to pay for a year’s lessons which would be £1898.
