We've been hard at work all year round - campaigning to make our city a better place to live and work, such as through the #LetPompeyBreathe campaign, by pushing for better public transport, improving walking and cycling routes and working to increase Portsmouth's recycling rate. All this makes a huge difference, but hard work, great candidates and great policies alone don't win elections. Polling show that the Greens are Britain's most-liked party, but we needs funds and volunteers to deliver our message to voters and show them that Greens can win here and that we are the best choice.
It costs over £100 to print a single newsletter or leaflet for just one of the fourteen wards in the city to let residents know what we do for them. We in the Green Party don't have dodgy billionaire donors, we don't take dirty money from grubby big businesses and we're not in the pockets of media barons, but that means that we do have to ask our supporters and members for funds. We know some people can afford more than others, but anything you can afford will help to make a real difference, so please contribute what you can.
We only have a small fraction of the amount the other main parties have to spend on campaigning, but even with very limited funding we've come close to beating other parties in some wards. We have an opportunity for a great result here!
We also need more volunteers out to deliver our leaflets, to make sure we get the Green Party's message across to every voter in Portsmouth. For more information of ways you can help, sign up to get involved! You can also find us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter or Instagram!
Thank you for any contribution that you can afford to help make this a reality!
If you pledge £500 or over, you must be on the electoral register - this is a requirement of donating to a political party, so register here if you're not. You must also be willing to provide us with your contact details and address. This is required by the Electoral Commission.
