Hoping to raise £800 for a new frame to be sent out to me here in India so that I can continue my challenge round the world.

Can you help Mike get back on his bike?

.

It’s with a heavy heart that I have to share the news that Gemima has ridden her last km on this journey. The bike shop has just confirmed the damage she has sustained is catastrophic and it was a miracle she was able to go on as long as she did.

.

Fearing the worst I spent most of yesterday calling around the bike shops of Guwahati (they even have a decathlon) but unfortunately not one had a frame that would fit my rack/ components. After much thought, it seemed that my best option was to look for a frame in the UK that could be shipped out to me. Fortunately I’ve found a 2011 steel touring frame that would be the ideal replacement.

.

Like doctors struggling on with their mental health alone, it is time for me to reach out and ask for help. It has been a 100% self funded up to this point and although you account for some unexpected events you never think you would be in a position to have to buy a new bike. Obviously having a frame sent out to India comes at a hefty price that my budget simply will not stretch to if I am going to be able to complete the remaining 10000 miles of this journey.

 .

Therefore, in a last ditch attempt to salvage the challenge I have taken the decision to set up a crowdfunding site to see if you, my friends, family and followers who have enjoyed watching my journey so far might be able to give me a small donation towards getting me back on the road so I can continue raising money towards my £20000 target for Mind UK and The Royal Medical Benevolent Fund of which I have already raised more than £10000.

.

Thank you to everyone for all their kind words and support over the last 3 months. I’ve been completely overwhelmed by it all and it honestly has kept me going on the tough days. No matter what happens I have had a fantastic journey up to this point and have proved to myself that there is no limit to what the mind and body can achieve. I just know that I need to try everything in my power to keep going so that I don’t look back in 10 years time and regret it.

.

It goes without saying that any money left over after I am back on the road will be donated to both my charities.

.

Much love, Mike.
