One of my best friends Beth is currently going through every parent’s nightmare. This summer her children went, as they do every school holiday, to stay with their Spain. They were due to return to the UK on September 1st to start back at their UK school on the 2nd.

On the 29th August, he emailed Beth to inform her he wouldn’t be returning the children as arranged and would be filing for full custody. Until this moment, the boys had lived in the UK since 2015 with their Mum and spent every school  holiday with their dad in Spain.

Despite Beth’s persistent but futile attempts to reason with him, her life has consequently been turned upside down as she finds herself in the middle of a hellish legal battle to have the boys returned to her where they belong.

Beth is currently not eligible for legal aid although she is on a low income. She has so far had to borrow a large sum of money as the current total of costs stands at £11,000 and the next few months look to cost about the same if not more. She is also in the process of selling her car in a bid to cut down monthly outgoings.

As the case involves two countries, Beth has two lawyers; one in the UK and one in Spain, she has also had to travel to Spain to liaise with her lawyer and over the next few weeks, will have to attend court hearings there and pay for travel and other costs incurred.

Lots of people have asked how they can help Beth and I feel as one of her closest friends, this Is the least I can do to help ease some of the stress and worry. Please help if you can. I know Beth will be so touched and incredibly appreciative of your support during this painful time.

Thank you x
