Your first year in business is supposed to be a trial, but I can tell you, this ones been a doozie! We have had floods, been scammed, had roofs falling off and now this awful virus. Quite frankly we can't pay rent on a closed shop, we've put everything we have into starting up and we have some tough decisions to make.
I have made a request for a rent holiday but that has not been a positive experience I can tell you! I would love to keep the shop going, I am very aware there are much more important things people could chuck a few quid towards right now and that should prioritise crowdfunding for a quirky gift shop, but I can see a day in the future where there's a place to chat, relax and enjoy the craft and art from the local community again.
While the shop is not in operation and with our catering events cancelled for the summer we will be taking hot food out to the community, something a little special created by an outstanding chef. Part of our crowdfunding will go towards giving meals to those in need and knackered key workers and NHS staff as a comforting treat.
I have been working on more refill items and hoping to be involved in a repair cafe for Chippenham so It's is still looking exciting, just got to get through the next few months!
