To improve the wellbeing/education of disadvantaged BAME women and children in the Grenfell area using new technological outreach platforms.

by Deqa Salad in London, England, United Kingdom

We at Hear Women are an organization led by and for BAME women, looking to advocate and improve all aspects of life for BAME women and children in the UK and abroad. This project had been in the works for a while but is more relevant than ever given the current pandemic. We want to create a new easily accessed and language appropriate online platform and provide the technology and training needed for our service users, economically disadvantaged BAME women, and children in the Grenfell area to use it. We want to use this platform to bring some of our local services such as tutoring services, reading groups for mothers and children, mental health services, yoga and meditation classes, cooking courses, and dance classes online. Our hope is that in doing so our service users will not lose access to much need services they are unable to access due to the pandemic during this difficult time. Moreover, we hope that this platform will allow us to reach even more users across London and the UK even after we recover from this pandemic, perhaps those with mobility issues, etc. We will use the funding to purchase necessary technology, train our staff, create training guides and education guides for our users in native languages, hire professionals to record classes, and professionals to create and manage the online platform.
