We are only a small team of part time and volunteer workers, but we believe that we provide a vital service to those in Wirral with brain injuries and their families. We are dedicated to supporting those with what is often called the 'invisible disability'. For many of our members who are increasingly isolated because of Covid 19, we are determined to find alternative ways to support them. We have been forced to close our four drop-ins as well as our fortnightly drop in at Clatterbridge Hospital. We want to fund a scheme whereby we can visit members at home (within prevailing guidelines) to make sure that they have food and heating and are looking after themselves. Many have very loving families whilst others are very much alone. This funding would provide staff and volunteers to visit both existing and potentially new members, thereby reducing social isolation and the mental anguish it can cause, as well as checking on their welfare. We also act as a 'signpost' to other services such as medical or social and could refer members, where necessary.
