We currently have 2 floodlit tarmac courts that are used for social, competitive league play, Open days, non-member pay to play, coaching, internal club competitions (e.g. league ladders), and other fitness sessions (e.g. Cardio).
The club’s overall membership and number of competitive team players has grown considerably over the past few years due to the marketing efforts of the Club Committee. However, having only 2 courts and an old, small pavilion, severely limits our ability to increase the membership further and is stifling the future growth of the club. More importantly, the courts and pavilion are inaccessible to wheelchairs and this prevents us from being able to offer an inclusive membership, coaching or free to play open days to all.
We also feel unable to provide an attractive offering to further interested, would-be members when we hold Fun days and Great British Tennis Weekend events and our limited court space prevents us from tapping further into the large catchment area we are located within.
Haxey currently has 3 doubles teams playing during the week in the Summer months and a doubles team in a local Winter league. Due to the number of members wishing to play competitive tennis, there is a strong desire to form a fourth Summer team but, with the club at full capacity this not practicable. This project is aimed at providing an additional court and creating 3 all-weather courts and a new, modern pavilion with changing facilities, kitchen and meeting area with easy access to both courts and pavilion, making the facility attractive to more people in the local vicinity and to enable Haxey TC to grow and develop further. The addition of an all-weather surface will also allow the courts to be used more during the winter months and make them more appealing to older and younger players as the surface will be easier on the body.
