Who am I?
I am Ros McFadden, midwife, lactation consultant, mother of four and I have been a working mum for 23 years. I am the founder of #KeepingMum bespoke services for businesses to support the working mother, from pregnancy to her return to work.
For line managers not to dread a member of staff becoming pregnant and strategise for family. By developing a framework of processes and procedures and staff incentives for the employee when they become pregnant, during maternity leave and on their return to work. Setting up Mum Pods in the workplace to facilitate pumping breast milk in comfort and privacy. Develop a team of associates who provide health and well-being products and services at lunch time taster sessions or in-house out of hours workshops. The associate recruitment will focus on local small businesses, especially those run by mothers who sought flexibility by starting a business.
For line managers to have those awkward conversations around pregnancy and breastfeeding in a supportive and appropriate manner.
To encourage mothers to return to work and manage their career flexibly around their family, to include planning for partners to take shared parental leave if required.
For mothers to make choices around breastfeeding their child for as long as they wish. Ultimately the objective is to close the gender pay and protect the health and well being of the working mother and her family and establish family friendly practices and flexibility.
For businesses to have robust maternity and breastfeeding policies to protect the working mother.
For businesses to deliver a package of staff incentives to improve staff retention, morale and productivity.
