Hi I’m Harry! I'm 14 and live in Cornwall. Over the next 12 months I will be doing multiple fundraising events so I can undertake voluntary community projects for four weeks in Kenya with Camps International.
The money raised will go towards my travel costs and for me to help with a variety of project work. This includes community development work, wildlife conservation, environmental conservation and a personal challenge – trekking Mt Kenya!
On this trip I will be involved in projects that will:
- Raise the educational standards of developing communities within a rural district of Kenya
- Raise the living standards of developing communities, within a rural district of Kenya
- Help with ongoing wildlife conservation programmes to preserve biodiversity and protect vulnerable habitats.
The main reason I want to go on the trip is to make a difference in the communities out there. The projects that I will be involved with will be part of the community not just for the time that we are there, but for years to come. I am also really looking forward to seeing a culture that is different from my own, meeting lots of new people and learning some new skills.
The total cost of the expedition is £3,750 but my family, friends and I are also raising money through car boot sales, a weekly icecream stall at my school (St Joseph's School, Launceston), cake sales and one off events like a sixties disco - I also have a job in our local pub washing up - so we are working hard to raise the funds along with your help!
Thank you for taking the time to look at my page. Any donation, no matter how small will be gratefully received
