Hannah and Harry are both really dedicated swimmers. They have been members of City of Bristol Swimming Club for over 2 years. The club was amazing during lockdown, getting virtual training and team events up and running within days. They are both now happily back in the water training with their friends.
COVID has provided some challenges for the club, lose of revenue from open meets is significant and COVID measures mean less swimmers in the water, so more pool costs. The club is running a Crowdfunding Appeal, with a funding match from Sport England, Harry and I are doing this challenge in support of that campaign.
We all did more cycling this year, trying to keep fit out of the water. Harry has gone from not really being a cycling fan (he broke his collar bone this time last year), to loving it. So what better challenge.
We have also been inspired by our friends, Clare, Emma and Adam Drinkwater, who are taking on a challenge joining Hengrove Leisure Centre with network clubs Backwell and Clevedon. So in the same spirit, we have devised a route joining Hengrove and Jubilee pools with Kingswood (Soundwell), Keynsham and Bath (so all the other network clubs - I think). This is just over 60km, far longer than either of us has cycled before.
We've not set a date, but likely to be a Sunday in the next 3-4 weeks. Our 'rough' route below.
