We aim to provide regular activities for young carers to have a break from their caring role and to avoid them feeling lonely or isolated.

New stretch target

We would like to provide Harrow Young Carers with a regular free counselling service.

We would also like toprovide 5-10 year old young carers with monthly outings rather than half term trips.

Who is a Young Carer?

A young carer is someone who looks after a parent or sibling that has an illness, disability, mental health or an addiction.

Young carers can spend over 50+ hours a week caring for their loved one. Their caring responsibilities can be cooking, cleaning, bathing, changing, handling medication and emotional support for their loved one.

Harrow carers, the young carers service support 5 - 17 year olds. We aim to provide these incredible young people with a well-deserved break from their caring responsibilities.

Why should you make a pledge?

Young carers find helping their loved ones very rewarding, but they also have the right to be looked after. We want to provide young carers with that special treatment care, which they deserve.

We would provide a youth café style setting. Young carers will be able to relax, play games and talk to others. We aim to provide fortnightly drop in sessions for young people. One session on the weekend and one during the week after school hours.

The sessions will tackle two main areas many young carers face; Loneliness/ Isolation and Mental health.

The money will be used to provide support with their homework, enhancing their skill set and life skills such as First aid training, health eating/cooking and money management.

We want to give our young carers in Harrow a break from their caring role so they can smile and have fun like the smiles in the video above!
