Illuminate Harlesden! Help bring together our community and restore our High Street Festive Lights!
Harlesden Festive Lights Cooperative (HFLC) is a collective of representatives made up of local residents, traders, community groups and councillors who are committed to engaging the community and delivering festive lights back into the heart of Harlesden over a three-year period.
Festive lights are proven to enhance surroundings and increase traders footfall, as well as help galvanise the community by celebrating festivals such as Christmas, Divali, and Hanukah.
After much research through our partnership with festive lights supplier High Level electrics, HFLC recommends that £10600 will be enough to upgrade the existing High Street infrastructure and deliver a Christmas Tree and 11 brand new LED lamp post banner motif style lights. These contemporary and stylish lights (See main image) will run from Harlesden’s famous Jubilee Clock to the Harlesden Library.
STAGE 1 - Lamp post structural testing: £600 COMPLETED!
STAGE 2 - Lamp post infrastructure replacement and repair: £3000 COMPLETED!
STAGE 3 - 11x Banner style LED festive lights, including installation and storage: £4000 COMPLETED!
STAGE 4 - Christmas tree installation with lights and December 2nd switching on event: £3000
We are already in a fantastic position! HFLC has already achieved a huge amount by raising £7000 through Community funding to test, upgrade, and repair the existing infrastructure to accommodate lights, banners and even hanging baskets! We do however still need to raise a further £3000 by January 2018 if we are to achieve our aims of delivering this ambitious project in year one.
If we surpass our target then HFLC will revise plans and look at extending the lights along the High Street to the Royal Oak and then up Park Parade. Unfortunately, initial tests have shown that the existing infrastructure is in very poor repair and therefore more realistically something to aim for in years two and three.
If we don't reach our full target this year then any funds raised will rollover to year two. We do however fully expect to raise enough for the Christmas Tree and community ‘switch on’ event on December 2nd.
We are only weeks away from December so time is short, but community spirit is strong in Harlesden and there are many hundreds of passionate people. We believe that this CAN be done and, if you do too, make a pledge and be a part of creating a true community fuelled festive season for Harlesden in 2017 and beyond!!
