The NHS is disposing our former District General hospital site, this building was originally built by public subscription and has served the community of Market Harborough for over 100 years.
The, to be, formed Harborough Development Trust would like to bid for this site in order to develop a mixture of accomadation from entry level 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartments to adapted properties designed for disabled tenants and also to include some co-living units.
It is our intention to construct these units to the highest affordable standards and to build sustainability into the very fabric of the build.
It is our aim to become a responsible landlord offering secure and affordable tenures to a mix of social groups while providing the trust with a revenue stream which will allow the development of future projects.
The initial money will be used to
- Incorporate the Development Trust
- Design and host a Website
- Logo Design
- Retain the services of the Architects to develop the bid for the site
- Design a brochure for a Community share offer (Subject to successful bid)
Should this bid not succeed we have two more projects that we would like to develop, so fear not, your donation will not languish in a bank account it will be used empowering the community to benefit from its local development.
As our development Trust is not yet incorporated, we are still developing our articles with COOPs UK, we do not have a bank account. For this purpose any monies donated will be temporarily banked with Transition Town Market Harborough. This is the grass roots constituted Sustainability group that has been runnning projects since 2007.
Why the rush, there is a very narrow window for this project with bids being due on 27th July.
