Why have we launched a Crowdfunder page for Happy@Home?
We have launched a Crowdfunder appeal to enable the charity to coordinate teams of volunteers that are involved in supporting our older residents, helping them to feel connected with the community whilst ensuring they stay safe at home.
Following the suspension of our face-to-face programmes, we have innovated and created safe and sustainable ways of keeping isolated elderly and vulnerable people Happy in their own Homes and included in their local communities by offering telephone befriending, shopping on their behalf and delivering prescriptions.
Our team is working tirelessly to let older people know that they have someone to turn to, someone to talk to, and someone to help them during this emergency.
How will this money be used?
We need your help to continue to support:
- Telephone Befriending – we have a successful scheme where we connect older people across our communities with trained volunteers on a regular basis.
- Shopping and prescription collections - to date our teams of volunteers have helped over 600 isolated elderly people with their shopping needs and prescription collections, and this figure rises daily.
- Sending poems, drawings and messages directly to elderly people from children and various groups like Scouts and Girl Guides from across the area.
Your support is vital and will enable Happy@Home and the Daventry Volunteer Centre to continue our work during and after this crisis supporting elderly people in new and innovative ways.
Thank you for your support.
No one should experience self-isolation alone.
