What is the show about?
Halls is a new British musical written by Jennifer Harrison and George Stroud. It follows the journey of eight very different first year university students, all brought together as they’re allocated the same halls of residence - Flat 15B.
With eight diverse personalities all trying to find their feet, whilst living under the same roof, love will blossom, tears will be shed, the pressures of student life will stifle, and the good times will be abundant.
Who is the team?
The show's team consists of 20 young creatives who have all studied either music, theatre or trained at a conservatoire school. Therefore not only will this show benefit the community through its performance, but it also gives a large number of young adults an opportunity to showcase their excellent work.
Why we need funding?
Halls aims to differentiate itself from other musicals and really hone in on its contemporary feel through the heavy use of AV technology. We have already received some excellent feedback from our initial draft and as a result are looking to put on a professional looking version of the show so we can truly see its potential. Therefore, the materials we need to purchase, in order to achieve aspects such as the AV, are quite costly and so not within our initial budget. We would really like to take this show further, hopefully to Edinburgh Fringe 2020, and so want to set the bar high with this first performance.
