KENDAL GYMNASTICS CLUB NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Over 200 boys and girls train up to 13 hours a week at KGC, aged between 3 -18 years. They and our coaches work really hard and over the years we can cite more success stories than we can count! Success comes in so many ways – whether it’s nailing that move that’s been a nemesis for months, coming back to full strength from injury, gaining new confidence every time they perform in front of an audience or winning a medal or standing on that podium full of pride and smiles. We want to do everything we can to support these children in reaching their goals and achieving their ambitions, whilst having fun!
That’s why it’s so important for them to be able to train, safely and healthily during the coronavirus pandemic.
Safety has always been paramount within the gym and during these pandemic times it is more important than ever for our gymnasts and coaches. Current guidelines mean we have adopted a ‘no direct hands on help’ to get our gymnasts to the next level of their individual training. It’s hard on everyone and without the right equipment, even more so. Our gymnasts know that to be the best they can be they have to do an immense amount of conditioning and strengthening exercise – the rewards, as we mentioned above, are when they nail a move or rise to a new one on the bars or the vault for instance. That’s where the joy comes in; the sheer unadulterated joy of getting there! But we can’t get them there on our own right now, not without the right equipment to replace some of that hands on approach that would help them. So we are seeking funds for new safety equipment to allow us to offer our regular high levels of coaching and in practice it means we need a tumble track, additional safety mats and a flick trainer. This will allow our gymnasts to progress with their training within current guidelines AND have fun too, whilst coaches will be able to deliver safe training at a distance. Just imagine that shout out when that next move is under a gymnast’s belt! It’s an amazing feeling just watching it and seeing the place erupt when all the other gymnasts and coaches celebrate with ‘the conqueror’ too!
Any help, no matter how small would be much appreciated and will go directly into equipment to support every gymnast, regardless of level.
