Over the COVID-19 crisis, many sports clubs up and down the country have had to close their doors to children taking part in recreational and competitive sport.
Gymnastics Elite is one of these many clubs. Over the past few months, nearly 200 young people who take part in our classes have been unable to come to us to do the sport they love. This has caused a detrimental impact to our club as we have been unable to provide a full service to our members, therefore, we have had to cut fees completely or have asked some members to contribute a donation toward class fees if they are able to in order to survive as a club.
We are planning on taking a team of brave volunteers who will be taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in order to help raise funds for our club to help us bounce back better than ever once we reopen. This is a twelve hour walk across three hills in the Yorkshire Dales, totaling nearly 26 miles. The money we earn from this fundraising event will also be matched by 50% from Sport England.
We hope that this will help us improve our facility and provide classes that are better than ever before for our members taking part in our classes. Many of our members will remember the past winter where adverse weather conditions caused multiple issues with our roof, so as a club, it is our aim to be able to find a new unit to call our home. This would allow us to offer even more classes in a much better facility.
