My name is Nick Banfield, qualified Open Water Swimming coach, and I started the Gylly Wellbeing Swimmers community group in Falmouth as there is a need in our community.
Our aim is to assist people in our community to swim safely and competently in the sea and thereby improve their mental and physical wellbeing. We have three groups: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced and we link members up with similar standard swimmers to provide support in our community. Our membership currently stands at 192 members and this is growing by the day.
The funds will help train more swim coaches and purchase swimming equipment, such as first aid kit, and coaching insurance.
Our Values are:
Wellbeing for ourselves and community
Hope for selves and future generations
Environmental care and protection
Safety for ourselves and others
Kind and compassionate towards each other and community
