A bit about the project
In March 2018, we received a small pot of funding from LCVS to run 12 gardening sessions, with the aim of developing a community garden at John Archer Hall, Toxteth. We are currently half way through hosting these 12 weekly drop-in sessions, which are open to the local community and our beneficiaries.
Toxteth is one of the most deprived areas in Liverpool and has the second highest unemployment rate in Liverpool, a rate of 19.3% of people are not in employment. According to Mencap, only 6% of those with the label of having a learning disability are in some form of employment and almost 9 in 10 people with a learning disability surveyed had experienced bullying or harassment in the past year - an incredible 88%
The aim of the project was that these two isolated communities are able to work together towards a common goal which is to create a new community garden space as well as to reduce stigma and hate-crime directed at those we work with. Other objectives include teaching basic food growing skills, promoting healthy and active lifestyles and improve well-being.
The project is going to end on the 19th June and we need your help to continue the great work that has been achieved so far.
With your help, we can continue the project until the 11th September and beyond!

Help us to continue our journey...
Who we are
We are Moving On With Life & Learning, a Liverpool grown organisation that promotes the social inclusion of people with the label of learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries and mental health concerns. We aim to work with beneficiaries to build active connections with their local communities and to develop their confidence, socially, personally and professionally.
What we need!
We can ensure that the garden project continues for another 12 weeks until the 11th September
This will pay the facilitators wage to continue running sessions for everyone to enjoy. This will ensure that a coherent plan is implemented and that sessions are well thought through and inclusive.
We can purchase new sets of tools and gardening equipment including seeds and plants for 2019. Also an accessible greenhouse for those with mobility issues.
Maintain the project until the 19th June 2019
