Plant One aims to increase canopy cover across Cornwall, the county with the lowest tree cover in the UK.
by Rai Lewis in Longdowns, England, United Kingdom
We are facing unprecedented challenges. Climate change is no longer a hypothetical threat, and pests and diseases are destroying our native stock of trees. There has never been a more important time to get trees in the ground.
Plant One is a not-for-profit tree planting business that focuses on the threat of climate change by taking direct action. Our unique approach empowers businesses, landowners and communities to have a direct and tangible effect against climate change on a local level.
We're on a mission to restore Cornwall's biodiversity, habitat for native fauna and to create a nature-focused challenge to the threats we all face.
Cornwall has the lowest tree cover in the UK, and the UK limps behind Europe in it's canopy cover. This isle we call Britain was once home to a vast forests and we are a people of the woods but we have long forgotten the forests and woodlands that used to surround us.
The era of the chainsaw is over so let’s take up the spade together and plant our future.
Conceived in 2019 Plant One has pushed aside the recent global challenges of the pandemic and planted 100s of trees. This planting season is set to be our record breaker! We are seeking funds to establish the longevity of Plant One by allowing us to work part-time on the project, enabling us to plant more native trees in our beloved county this year and beyond. Plant One is on the runway and gaining speed. We just need that financial thrust so we can get fully airborne. Become part of the solution by supporting us.
