To fund outdoor group-based personal development & self-management courses for people with severe/enduring mental health conditions in Fife

by Fife Employment Access Trust in Glenrothes, Scotland, United Kingdom

Employ your Mind was first established by FEAT in partnership with NHS Fife Mental Health Services in 2012, to fill a critical gap in provision for adults with enduring mental health conditions who had been overlooked for years in terms of support to find employment.  The programme has been so successful in 2015 a new element was added, supporting young people aged 15-18 who had disengaged from education due to their mental health issues.  In the same year, the project was recognised internationally has been successfully replicated in Melbourne, Australia with our support, training and mentoring.  In 2019 the programme was adapted for veterans with enduring conditions and in 2020 we start an outdoor version, "Grow your Mind", based at our subsidiary company's premises in Silverburn Park, Leven.

The programme itself runs over 22-26 weeks and is delivered in 4 phases focusing on aspirations, values, personal development, self-management and employability in stages, with participants taking part in groundbreaking "Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT)" sessions throughout.  FEAT are recognised as world leaders in the delivery of CRT - a therapy that targets the thinking skills of each participant to help overcome daily challenges such as poor memory, poor concentration or attention span, information processing, planning and problem solving.

Funding from this crowdfunder will enable the continuation of this work - more outdoor courses and online courses will be created to support the change in everyone's circumstances following the Covid19 Pandemic.
