On May the 6th voters across Merseyside go to the polls in the region’s biggest ever local elections.
As well as electing councillors across 6 local authorities voters will also be electing a ‘Metro Mayor’ responsible for making decisions on key infrastructure across the Liverpool City Region.
Gary Cargill is the Green Party candidate for Metro Mayor.
Global climate change is reaching crisis point. It has never been more important for Green voices to be heard in local government. If we are to build a better future for the next generation then we have to act now to safeguard our environment.
These issues affect us right here in the North West. The City Region has some of the worst air pollution in the country, leading to thousands of premature deaths every year. Plans to expand the airport, cruise terminal and roads will make this worse not better.
The Green Party is the only party that is serious about standing up to these threats. In this election we will be campaigning for greater democracy and accountability, greener forms of transport, and protecting our environment.
Mersey Greens were at the forefront of pushing for councils to declare a climate emergency. We want to see a just transition to a brighter future, where quality of life takes precedence over growth.
In order to achieve those goals we need YOUR help. Unlike other parties The Green Party does not accept donations from big business. Instead we rely on lots of small donations from people like you.
We urgently need to raise at least £5,000 to register Gary as the Green candidate for Metro Mayor. Additional funds will allow us to promote Gary's message to voters across Merseyside.
If you want to put Green issues right at the heart of these elections then please support us by donating now.
*IMPORTANT: All donors must be on the UK Electoral Register and anyone wishing to donate more than £50 must be willing to provide their Home Address details. Checks will be carried out to ensure that anyone donating more than £50 is a permissable donor. Such donations will appear on candidate election returns and will be publically published by the Electoral Commission.
