A water leak and refusal of the claim for damage means that we must raise funds for our club ourselves. We need your help to keep us going!

New stretch target

Anything over our target will still be used to maintain the building, upgrade furnishings and improve the look of the club

Our Club is dealing with a crisis never before experienced in its history – this may sound dramatic but the truth of it is there wherever we look. We got through Covid but a water leak caused significant damage to the club. We thought our insurance would payout, but its not going to happen. Its a long story, no one is personally to balme and we must look forward not back.

An EGM was called and a new committe was coopted into place with the few remaing members of the team who wanted to continue.

Finances at our Club have taken a hammering, but this crisis is also an opportunity and our new Committee is actively reviewing all activities so that when we are able to reopen we are in a position to do just that. The Club is still pursuing all opportunities for grants and loans available from the government, the local council, Sport England and anywhere else we can get funds. However, this communication is directed at you personally, asking you to reflect upon the wonderful memories you have made at our Club, and to help secure our unique facilities for the future.

We do have funds available for the repairs. All work is being done at cost by members wherevre possible and the progress can be seen on our FB page. The aim is to get the club open, repair the ceilings, redecorate, new lighting, paint the outside and tidy up the grounds.

Greenhill Bowling Club is entirely self-financing. It is supported by a majority of members providing income over the bar. Our investment in running costs is necessary to derive all our turnover in order to support the green, facilities and affiliation fees.

As we are closed we currently have no income but our fixed costs remain the same.

We have a valuable set of members as well as a good number of local people who come and enjoy what we have to offer. From Bowling, Snooker, Live Bands, private family events and not forgetting Burnley Lost Souls.

We shall come through this crisis BUT with your help we will emerge better positioned and ready to continue building on the great successes achieved in recent years and years gone by. The club was doing really well before the crisis due to the efforts of everyone involved and it would be such a shame for that to be nipped in the bud.

This is hopefully, a “once-in-a-lifetime” challenge and I kindly ask you to contribute to maintaining our great club for all who use it.

Your donation however large or small will be appreciated and only used for the benefit of the actual club.

These are unprecedented times but together, we are stronger, and the response is coming from members and friends across the country.
