BREXIT: Whichever side people took in the referendum, what matters now is achieving the best outcome for Britain. Theresa May has rightly set a course for a deep and special relationship with the European Union when we have left it. This should include free and frictionless trade as well as friendly cooperation on everything from security to the environment. In this election, we have a choice between strong, stable leadership under Theresa May or a coalition of chaos from the likes of Jeremy Corbyn and Nicola Sturgeon.
HEALTH SERVICES: I campaigned, together with community campaigners and local councillors, to stop the closure of Altrincham Hospital and then to secure a modern new facility that meets the needs of the community in the 21st century. I have also campaigned successfully to protect The Christie and keep world-beating specialisms at Wythenshawe Hospital.
EDUCATION: As a pupil at Heyes Lane in Timperley and then Altrincham Grammar, I knew from an early age how precious our schools are. I stepped down from the Conservative front bench to continue to make the case for our excellent schools and defend their interests. Politicians of all parties talk about social mobility: our schools are delivering it! Altrincham and Sale have the best state schools in the country
MANAGING THE NATIONAL DEBT: The financial crisis that started in 2008 has been the biggest knock to our economy since the war. Careful management has brought Britain back from the brink and growth has returned, but government is still spending more than it can afford. Only the Conservatives have a clear plan on how to sustain economic recovery.
