My name is Andy I am a gardening supervisor with Good Seeds Garden Services based at The Message Enterprise Centre in Manchester I have 15 years experience in gardening but have also been a Police Officer in Merseyside for 3 years. I work with one trainee who is going through an NVQ in horticulture training them in all aspects of garden maintenance. The trainee is encouraged to treat the business as if it was their own building relationships with customers and learning how to run the business being guided as to how to do everything behind the scenes such as quoting and other paperwork.

The vision behind the project is to equip each trainee with enough gardening and business knowledge to be able to either run their own business be employable and/or expand Good Seeds to the point where at the end of the programme the newly qualified trainee will have the option to have their own van and client base and train the next person. During the two year course each trainee is mentored through any personal issues which will help them on the road to rehabilitation. At present the re offending rate at The Message Enterprise Centre is less than 4%

Money received will help pay for new gardening equipment, running costs of the van and advertising
