New stretch target

Any additional funds raised above £2,000 will contribute to our total target amount of £20,000 enabling us to carry out the optimum performance programme that will put us in the best position possible both mentally and physically to not only qualify but be successful at the Commonwealth Games, 2018.

Support a unique but exciting opportunity for two of Scotands' most inspirational, Edinburgh based athletes.

Help Lynne Beattie and Mel Coutts, Scotland's leading female beach volleyball pairing, achieve something that has never been done before, by qualifiying for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast; an opportunity that Scotland has never had until now, with Beach Volleyball making its debut appearance at the games in 2018.

Beach Volleyball was the fastest selling event at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, and is one of the most popular sports in the world, with Brazil and USA leading the way in the world rankings.

Lynne and Mel are currently sitting at the top of the rankings for Commonwealth teams in Europe and need to maintain this position for a chance to qualify for the competition and make history for their sport and their country.

Maintaining this spot is not as easy as it sounds for the Scotland duo, who have to invest their own money to compete regularly in competitions all over the world in order to gain world ranking points and gain experience of playing at the highest level possible.

The biggest drain on their personal budget is the cost of travel, accommodation and competition entry fees, all essential expenditure to compete at these competitions, which without, they will be unable to make the required improvements and indeed gain enough ranking points to qualify for the Gold Coast.  They need your help...

As a result, these athletes are currently seeking sponsorship, partners and investors to join forces with them and support their journey to achieve something that has never been done before, creating a legacy for the sport and the future generation of beach volleyball players in Scotland. A total cost of £20,000 has been projected as the overall target for their whole journey; between now and the Commonwealth Games 2018.

Lynne and Mel are asking for your help:

"Through Crowdfunding we are looking to raise £2,000 to contribute to the total costs of the project and fund our current winter aspirations, putting us in the best shape possible going into next summer.

Please pledge what you can individually, or get together as a group and pledge a little more to help us get to the Gold Coast and represent our country and our sport.

As a thank you and show of appreciation for your donation, you will get a shout out on all of our social media platforms and appear on our new website 'wall of thanks' highlighting all of our backers and our progress (www.goingforgoldcoast.com).

In the meantime follow our progress on Twitter - @COUTTS_BEATSBVB - or follow the hashtag  #goingforgoldcoast

Thank you for your support!"
