I’m a qualified Graphic and Textile designer who has ran their own business for 15 years. Previously I was a National Accounts Manager supplying High Street Retailers which then resorted in myself opening a Hong Kong Trading Company Importing for major UK retailers on a variety of products ranging from Homewares, Gifts, Garden Items and Furniture. All the items were designed and sourced by myself and my team of Asian staff that I employed. I have also recently completed my certification for OCN training presented by the Director of CRC to work with the CRC groups.
I decided I wanted to set up a new company that would provide employment and training opportunities for ex-offenders. The House of Gingerbread Afternoon Teas was born and is split into 3 main business areas –
Delivery of craft, scientific and creative workshops to children and adults (with optional afternoon tea)
Delivery of catering and crafts for themed birthday parties, christenings and weddings
Retail arm selling packaged products associated with services i) and ii) e.g. for children’s parties Unicorn box and kit, Slime Party Box!
For more information please see my website and Facebook page.
Currently we operate across the East Midlands up to York and the surrounding areas, I employ one ex-offender part time who helps deliver the parties and workshops. I’m 4 months into my first year of trading and believe I can comfortably generate £50-60k predominantly from parties alone by the end of the financial year. The growth of the business lies in the development of the retail arm for which I’m seeking the investment for to really develop the website, marketing strategy and procure raw materials. I have a very strong relationship with the governor of HMP Askham Grange and Inside Out and will be using these facilities to collate/pack products, for the retail arm.
My goal through the development of the retail arm is alongside growth in parties/workshops–
Enable my part time employee to move full time she is an ex offender
Over the first 6 months employ 3-4 people ( ex offenders)
