Hello my name is Vickie and I run Wool n Stuff in Wakefield, we have been here for 7 years now and we are the only independent yarn shop in the city centre. Over the years the shop has literally become the heart of the local crafting community. I have taught many of you to knit and crochet, many friendships have been formed and our woolly family has grown. In a time when high street shops are closing we continue to thrive and that is down to the support you our customers have shown us. We now host four free knit n natter sessions a week and weekly workshops. Our success has left us with a major problem when knit n natter is on we literally cannot fit anyone else in the shop, not to mention the fact we are struggling for places to put stock.
Just over a year ago we found the perfect premises to move into the only problem been they were completely derelict and have taken an awful lot of work just to get them in the condition they are now. Believe me what you can see in the video is considerably better than what we started with. In just 8 weeks time we will be moving into our forever home right here in Wakefield city centre.
The new premises 'The Sheep Shed' are on Upper Kirkgate just down from Boots, they will have full disabled access and ample room to get a wheelchair round. It's also much closer to the bus stops and car parking. It will be packed out with not just yarn and knitting supplies but as many other crafts as we can fit in. There will be cross stitch, fabric, felting supplies, jewellery making and so much more.
But now we need your help and I'm going to be blunt here we need your help with money. We have sunk pretty much every penny we have into this building and whilst it will be in a condition that we can move in there will be nothing left for extras. We need to raise a £1000 to buy extra tables and chairs, seat cushions so people are comfortable when they come in and loads of shop fittings to display all the new stock.
Which is where you guys come in we would be very grateful if you could make a donation towards kitting the new shop out. Even if you can only give £1 it would help, but seriously anything you are able to give us will be spent wisely and you will be able to see the purchases you have helped make when you come into the shop.
Don't worry if you aren't able to make a donation we understand that money is tight for many of our customers. But you can still help us by sharing this page and commenting on our social media posts. Everything helps you wonderful lot have got us this far we just need to get over the last little but and into new and better premises.
So please please if you can help us and make a donation we will be eternally grateful and if you can't please share this instead.
Anything we raise over our £1000 target will be spent on new stock and setting up our new workshop space.
