About Amy Morvell Dance:

Amy Morvell is an emerging female contemporary dance artist based in the South East of England. Amy set up her company Amy Morvell Dance in late 2017 with support from Lîla Dance as part of their Intern Scheme. With Lîla’s help, the company received Arts Council funding to begin research & development for Amy's new work Turtle Dove. Alongside this Amy has also been supported by South East Dance’s Mind the Gap in partnership with Hofesh Shechter Company & from April 2019 Amy will be an Associate Artist of The Point, Eastleigh who will be supporting the project.

Amy’s work is often inspired by the stories of others and how these stories shape their experiences of living, loving and aging.

About Turtle Dove:

Turtle Dove is a contemporary dance work based on the notion of ‘love’ previously funded by Arts Council England and supported by Lîla Dance.

It is a ‘warts & all’ timeless tale of the heart that looks at real stories of love from interviews conducted with people in long term relationships from different generations and backgrounds.

The work consists of a series of vignettes that create a narrative theme, the original soundtrack is voice overs from the interviews which have been sewed together by composer Dougie Evans.

“It appears in a memory recalled, in a shiver of anticipation, in energy and in space (“I’m very up and down, he’s more level”). Lovely but not laboured, Turtle Dove is genuinely heart-warming." – Sanjoy Roy

A message from Amy:

With your generosity Turtle Dove can be performed to its widest audience yet. I am hoping that from this performance many more opportunities for the work will arise! Turtle Dove is my first professional work and tells stories of many of my closest friends and family members. I am extremely committed to making as many possibilities available for the company & I am so thankful for all the support I have received so far.
